Artificial feeding of ticks

To study host-pathogen-vector interactions, we use a silicone membrane based artificial feeding system to feed ticks. In this system we can investigate the transmission dynamics of pathogens. For example, how long does a tick need to feed before a pathogen is transmitted? Or, how do ticks become infected with pathogens? Can we block the transmission of pathogens?
